Character Name: Lucy MacLean
Series: Fallout
Age: Mid-20s
From When?: The end of Episode 4, 'The Ghouls', after she leaves the Ghoul outside the Super Duper Mart

Warden Justification:

Lucy is a strong believer in the Golden Rule - treating others as you wish to be treated - and holds onto that approach despite her upbringing and worldview being challenged by the harsh realities of the Wasteland. As well as being a decent fit for a place like the Barge (more on that elsewhere), she tries to see the best in people and has an ingrained interest in helping and supporting others. She's also coming to understand much more intimately what a person's environment can do to their personality and behaviour, and will try to allay that into empathy for her inmate while still trying to help them see that they have choices about their future.

Item: Her Pip-Boy wearable computer

Abilities/Powers: Lucy is adept at a number of skills (including machine maintenance, gardening, fencing, gymnastics and riflery) but is in all respects a basic-ass human.

Wardening Strategies and Philosophies:

Lucy both will and won't be a good fit on the Barge. On one hand, she grew up in a similarly sealed environment and has an intimate understanding of how to maintain one's physical and mental health in such a space. She'll see herself as part of a community rather than a passenger, and act accordingly. On the other hand, she was born and raised in her Vault and never expected to be anywhere else; being surrounded by Inmates who were brought by force and even wardens who felt they had no other choice, it'll take a while to adjust to their perspectives.

She'll try to befriend her inmate and work with them rather than on them - the golden rule at work - trying to learn as much as she can about where they're from and how they came to be the way they are. Her aim is to understand why they've made the choices they made and how they can start to make others; as a history teacher in her Vault, she focused on ethics and that will enter into her practice as a warden.

She's naturally friendly and good-natured, although her ability to trust others reflexively has been eroded. So too has her naivety. Though she's less apt than she was to assume that other people are basically good and will act rationally - which has led her to start making contingency plans in case they aren't and don't - she might still be fooled by someone who sufficiently acts the part.

While it's hard to guess who she might and might not click with, she's likely to struggle with inmates who have had every opportunity in life to do the right thing in life and just....didn't, especially for reasons like greed or megalomania. She gets that harsh lives make harsh people; inmates who seem to suck by choice alone will just confuse her. Conversely, she's likely to do well with inmates who can be engaged in conversation and won't default to lashing out or shutting down, even if it takes time.

Deal: America is currently an irradiated wasteland and Lucy would like very much for it to be....not...that. She can thrash out the finer points later!!
